Free Dream Theater Bootlegs And Rare Items

This is one of the rarest DT bootlegs I have, as it was limited to just 50 physical copies. On it, you get: 1. The Chris Cintron audition of A Change Of Seasons. The back cover art says “A Change Of Seasons ’89” which is partially true. The instrumental parts were laid down in 1989, but Cintron would have performed vocals in 1990. 2. The 1993 Limelight performance of A Change Of Seasons. One of only two times ACOS got played live with “the two Kevins” Moore & LaBrie (other was Bonn, Germany 1993). 3. The “Mercy Fuck” performance of A Change Of Seasons from Old Bridge, NJ June 1995. This one sounds nice in contrast to the very noisy version of this show in circulation. 4. The sample from Dead Poet’s Society about Carpe Diem meaning “seize the day.” 5. “A Change Of Simpsons.” This is a Scenes era performance of this song which has a piece of The Simpson’s Theme included. Did they do this on Live Scenes From New York? I can't remember, and have not the energy...

These are recordings of the two shows Dream Theater played in 1990 while they were still searching for a full-time replacement for Charlie Dominici. Both shows were at Sundance in Bay Shore, Long Island, and were conducted on June 9th and November 17th respectively. The June 9th show started with instrumental performances of Learning To Live (then known as Creep With Tonality), Ytse Jam, and A Change Of Seasons. This was the first time LTL and a full version of ACOS were played, some of the sub-sections of ACOS having been played live in 1989 (no recordings of this unfortunately). Dream Theater then brought out prospective lead singer Steve Stone AKA Stephan Erickson to sing Metropolis, A Fortune In Lies, and The Killing Hand. This was the only time Dream Theater played a show with a lead singer other than Chris Collins, Charlie Dominici, or James LaBrie. Unfortunately, Stone badly embarrassed himself. Dream Theater with Steve Stone 1990 Chris Cintron John Hendricks John Arch There are numerous DT bootlegs which have recordings from these auditions, including Subconscious, Antiquities, Uncovered, Winter Rose In The Dream, and Studio Demo 1988-1990, but the only complete set I have of the auditions is in MP3 format from a torrent. This is the only live document of Winter Rose I know of. I give it a 6/10 for quality. Has a little bit of clipping, phasing, and harsh high mids, and it doesn't help that I only have an mp3 version of this show, but it’s a testament to what an outstanding vocalist James was in his prime.
