Dream Theater - The Complete Dreamy Landscape Set

Image
This is an elusive bootleg which contains two shows from the Japanese leg of A Dramatic Tour Of Events. You also get bonuses of Andy McKee opening from these shows. Gorgeous! Because I'm feeling lazy right now (or it would be more accurate to say I'm swamped with work), consult these two Discogs entries for the setlists: https://www.discogs.com/Dream-Theater-Dreamy-Landscape-1/release/5718279 https://www.discogs.com/Dream-Theater-Dreamy-Landscape-2/release/5718332 Download link: https://mega.nz/#F!IeIihCAJ!9pOvhKvqom1yV7JuQJrvYg

My Condolences To Adrenaline Mob (RIP David Z & AJ Pero)

Image
On Friday, July 14th, 2017, Adrenaline Mob bassist David Z (full name David Zablidowsky) was killed in a motor vehicle accident near Gainsville, FL. The band's RV was parked on the side of the road to fix a flat tire when a tractor-trailer plowed into it and started a fire. David Z, who also played in Trans-Siberian Orchestra, was 38 years old. Russell Allen, Mike Orlando, drummer Jordan Cannata, and several others were badly injured in the crash. This is not the first tragedy to befall Adrenaline Mob. On March 20th, 2015, drummer AJ Pero (ex-Twisted Sister) was found dead on the band's tour bus of an apparent heart attack.   I was feeling pretty shitty yesterday because I poked a lot of fun at Adrenaline Mob back in 2012, including, notably, the "Hitler Reacts To The Adrenaline Mob EP" video. Just because I didn't like the band's music that much doesn't mean I wished death or injury on any of the band members for crying out loud! The Omertá album w

Sample Thumbnails: DVD Specs: Probably NTSC   A popular DVD from the Train Of Thought tour. Picture is a little "fuzzy" but also has a lot of zooms and close-ups on the band members. This show contains two infamous moments. First, the rather poor cover of A Passage To Bangkok (beginning a tradition of one-off Rush covers played in Toronto which continued with Jacob's Ladder in 2006 and The Camera Eye in 2009), and LaBrie hitting a shrill, bum note on the "but those days are gooooooone" part of A Change Of Seasons which used to be on YouTube under the name "James LaBrie's worst live moment" or something like that. I heard a rumor that LaBrie was informed at this show that his father had a heart attack, so that could account for his spotty performance. The Winery Dogs Live At O2 Academy, Bristol, England 2016/02/02 [FLAC]

Hopefully no one thought I was going to skate by without sharing something from these guys! I think this was by far Portnoy's most successful post-Dream Theater project only because Richie Kotzen is such a badass. Download link: https://mega.nz/#F!omgxRZ7S!9NUSUgvBNXLz_NzOEJjBTA

Dream Theater Live At Olympic Tennis Stadium, Seoul, South Korea May 6th, 2000 (DVD)

Image
A popular pro-shot video from the Metropolis 2000 Tour. My thumbnail generator didn't work. I can bypass this by converting the .VOB files to .mp4 or .mov files, but seeing as this show is common enough and there are various clips on YouTube people can look at for a sample, I'm not going to bother. By the way, avoid the "Woodstock Tapes" version of this DVD because the picture quality is degraded and there's an even more distracting "WT" watermark slapped over the "m.net" watermark. It's the one that has the cover art that looks like this (promo photo from the Systematic Chaos era, which shows the bootleggers don't know anything about the band): https://mega.nz/#F!UrB3SJIJ!KwiFnsanDtkk_gk8vReLVA

Drum Solo DVD Specs:   This is a VHS transfer and has some noise which actually gets quite annoying at times like the drum solo. It was present in both versions of the video I found, so take it or leave it. Someone shared a version of this on YouTube which has better audio, but they unfortunately chose to upload it in 240p, so the picture quality is bad. Derek Sherinian on keys (you get to hear him play his signature Lines In The Sand intro during his keyboard solo), Virgil Donati on drums, Kevin Freeby on bass, and last but not least, Tony MacAlpine on guitar, absolutely killing it at this show. Which reminds me, I will eventually share something from PSMS (Portnoy Sheehan MacAlpine Sherinian) on this blog too! Download link: https://mega.nz/#F!Q2R2ELwY!iAYL2SnHeSOtGuMlFWXj-A

Dream Theater - Screaming For Me Long Beach / It's All Instrumental (1990)

Image
These are recordings of the two shows Dream Theater played in 1990 while they were still searching for a full-time replacement for Charlie Dominici. Both shows were at Sundance in Bay Shore, Long Island, and were conducted on June 9th and November 17th respectively. The June 9th show started with instrumental performances of Learning To Live (then known as Creep With Tonality), Ytse Jam, and A Change Of Seasons. This was the first time LTL and a full version of ACOS were played, some of the sub-sections of ACOS having been played live in 1989 (no recordings of this unfortunately). Dream Theater then brought out prospective lead singer Steve Stone AKA Stephan Erickson to sing Metropolis, A Fortune In Lies, and The Killing Hand. This was the only time Dream Theater played a show with a lead singer other than Chris Collins, Charlie Dominici, or James LaBrie. Unfortunately, Stone badly embarrassed himself. He allegedly “practiced too hard” in preparation for the gig, resulting in a strai

Who Is That On Keys? - Derek Sherinian's First Show In Dream Theater [FLAC]

Sample Spectrogram Reading:   Since I shared the latest recording of DT with Moore, I might as well share this one too. Derek joined considerably earlier than some people think. People associate him with the Falling Into Infinity album in 1997, but he had actually been in the band since October 1994, when he was given roughly two weeks to learn the band's complex material after it became apparent Jordan Rudess' touring commitments with Dixie Dregs would prevent him from joining Dream Theater. I always thought the recording of this show sounded a little strange, and I finally realized, unfortunately AFTER uploading 6:00 from this show to YouTube, that the tapes had been slowed down. It would be cool to hear someone create a speed corrected version. I don't have the energy/time to do it myself right now, but sucking the files into Audacity and increasing the speed (be careful not to select "Pitch" or "Tempo") about 3.8% should do the trick. D

Dream Theater - Just Let Me Breathe Please - Live In Osaka, Japan 1998 [500 kbps Ogg Vorbis]

Image
This is a lesser circulated show from the Japanese leg of the Falling Into Infinity tour. Has some early teasers of Beyond This Life in Petrucci's solo, and also incidentally, the live debut of Speak To Me. Somebody (not me) decided to convert this bootleg to the obscure .ogg format, which can be played using VLC. I have not found a program which can batch convert these files. Audacity can convert .ogg files, but only one track at a time, so with everything I have on my plate right now, this is something I'm not going to do myself. Dream Theater, Queensrÿche, and Fates Warning live in Atlanta 2003

Image
Here is a token item I’m offering from the “Escape From The Studio” tour with Queensrÿche and Fates Warning. The sound is a little muddy. I converted the files to .WAV format so that they will be more compatible with media players (i.e. iTunes) which have built-in equalizers so people can boost the treble frequencies if they want to. Dream Theater - Graspop Festival 2002 (2003 International Fan Clubs CD)

Image
This is the 2nd to last fan club release I’m going to be sharing, the last being the Once In A LIVEtime Outtakes from 1998 because I have something special planned for that one which will take a while. The other releases I have my reasons for not sharing. The 1997 one, The Making Of Falling Into Infinity, overlaps too heavily with an official release from Ytse Jam Records. The 1999 one, Cleaning Out The Closet, overlaps with several single releases. The 2001 one is radio edits of songs from the Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence album. And the 2002 one, Taste The Memories, is 9/10ths tracks from Osaka, Japan 1992 and 1993 which I’ve already shared . The remaining track is the version of A Change Of Seasons from The Limelight 1993 which is extremely easy to find. There’s a Ytse Jam Records release of soundboard audio from this show, and there’s also a video of this performance which is common on YouTube. Dream Theater - Images And Words 15th Anniversary Performance (2007 International Fan Clubs CD)

If anyone is curious about the non-Images and Words set of this show, I uploaded an audience recording of this show called “Clapping Bonn” as well so people can hear the remaining songs. https://mega.nz/#F!hSJTkAaI!q_WHsDU-CgQ1q1d8toe7cg https://mega.nz/#F!5eBwwR7S!Vdx8OUd_34sKdasbuUaqCQ VLC player for handling FLAC and .CUE files: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

Dream Theater - 1996 Christmas CD

Image
I believe this was DT's first ever fan club CD and it's pretty common and popular by now. The tracks from the Ronnie Scott's show are cleaner than what you get on the "Uncovered" CD. The version of O Holy Night on this CD I do not believe was circulated prior to the CD's release. Dream Theater - A Sort Of Homecoming (2004 International Fan Clubs CD)

Image
Tracks 7 & 8 are Liquid Tension-ish improvisations done during the middle of Beyond This Life. The highlight of this CD in my opinion is the haunting performance of Vacant from Madison Square Garden with cellist Eugene Friesen. The show also represented one of only two performances of the song Disappear, the other being the Live At Budokan show. Dream Theater live in Kiev, Ukraine 2011 (Blu-Ray, multi-cam edit)

Image
This is the first and possibly only Blu-Ray item I'm going to be offering on my blog. This one was partitioned in such a way so that people will be able to download it from MEGA without paying for an upgraded account. Overall, the quality of this Blu-Ray is really nice but songs 10-13 are way louder than songs 1-9, and Metropolis (which was the tour debut of this song BTW) goes back to being quiet, so that is an issue. Here are my instructions for downloading this. First, download this: https://mega.nz/#F!YDgBlTIK!NFr8YzDYuucBvs0O_XnkNg Second, download this, although if you lack a paid account on MEGA, you will have to download these files in probably 4-5 spurts (waiting at least 6 hours in between) because of the download limit. https://mega.nz/#F!0bIgCYIR!TEDN9cfma-BFPVgMKZ1DBw After you've downloaded all the files, copy the entire "STREAM" folder into the BDMV container. On Mac, you will have to control-click on it, and select "Show Package Conte
