Dream Theater - Screaming For Me Long Beach / It's All Instrumental (1990)

Image
These are recordings of the two shows Dream Theater played in 1990 while they were still searching for a full-time replacement for Charlie Dominici. Both shows were at Sundance in Bay Shore, Long Island, and were conducted on June 9th and November 17th respectively. The June 9th show started with instrumental performances of Learning To Live (then known as Creep With Tonality), Ytse Jam, and A Change Of Seasons. This was the first time LTL and a full version of ACOS were played, some of the sub-sections of ACOS having been played live in 1989 (no recordings of this unfortunately). Dream Theater then brought out prospective lead singer Steve Stone AKA Stephan Erickson to sing Metropolis, A Fortune In Lies, and The Killing Hand. This was the only time Dream Theater played a show with a lead singer other than Chris Collins, Charlie Dominici, or James LaBrie. Unfortunately, Stone badly embarrassed himself. He allegedly “practiced too hard” in preparation for the gig, resulting in a strai...

Sample Thumbnails: DVD Specs: NTSC This is a heavily requested DVD from the Falling Into Infinity tour, perhaps because the picture and audio quality are relatively good, or because of the Nightmare Cinema performance of Perfect Strangers. John Petrucci G3 Bootlegs + Paris 1997 Clinic

Image
This is a compendium of 10 different Petrucci items including G3 shows from 2001, 2002, 2005, 2007, and 2012, plus a clinic from La Locomotive in Paris, France 1997/04/13, all in MP3 format. I.B.S (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) was the early working title for Jaws Of Life before John's Suspended Animation album was released. In the 2012 show (joined by Mike Mangini on drums and usual suspect Dave LaRue on bass), you get three as-of-yet unreleased songs: Cloud Ten, Zero Tolerance, and Glassy-Eyed Zombies. In the 1997 clinic, you get a playthrough of Purple Rain and the two-part Necronomicon song Petrucci composed for a SEGA Saturn pinball game in 1996. One more thing I'll mention is that the Phoenix 2001 show ("Shredfest") has some technical difficulties with Petrucci's distortion dying. He handles it like a pro though. https://mega.nz/#F!hKoUiBCa!dU_qJJ94MNcjAC4vhpRGeQ

Dream Theater - Dutch Dream Dates (A selection of unreleased live songs recorded in Holland 1993-1998) [FLAC]

Image
This was a request I got from someone. The quality of many of these tracks leaves much to be desired. However, possibly all of these clips are from rare lineages of these shows which can’t be found on any other bootlegs. For example, the clips from the Waldrock Festival and the Utrecht 1993 are not from the common soundboard sources of these shows. The back cover of this CD rather laughably claims it was printed in North Korea. As James LaBrie is fond of saying, “I don’t think so.” Download link: https://mega.nz/#F!8S5zyb4a!RpThgHvZ1N1y9ugWC8Y0-g

Dream Theater - Stream Of Consciousness (1997)

Image
Someone expressed interest in this recently. It's the last of the "Prism Records" CDs done by Portnoy's friend Mike Bahr, but I think he continued to float around for a while under the labels "Scarred Records" and "Xanadu Records." It's a soundboard recording, but the quality is not very good because it's sourced from a web stream (get it?) back in the days when internet bandwidth and streaming abilities were not so good. The bonus track of Surrounded is the show from Nottingham, England 1993, later recounted by Portnoy on Mike Kelly's Nightwatch radio show in 1994, where Portnoy sang the end of the song after LaBrie pursued an audience member who was singly loudly and badly. You get two more bonus tracks not listed on the back cover: an unknown performance of Lie (probably from 1994 based on LaBrie's stunning vocal performance), and Charlie Dominici singing Metropolis (probably from his last show at The Ritz 1989/11/14). For t...

Dream Theater - Biskuithalle, Bonn, Germany 1997/04/19 pro-shot + SIR Studios, NYC 1989/04/26 (DVD)

Sample Thumbnails: DVD Specs (they're the same for both parts of the video): PAL Setlist for Bonn special (interspersed periodically with interviews): 01) Burning My Soul 02) Hollow Years 03) Puppies on Acid 04) Just Let Me Breathe 05) Lie Setlist for the SIR Studios show: 01) Distant Echoes (ambient montage of When Dream And Day Unite songs) 02) A Fortune in Lies 03) Afterlife 04) To Live Forever 05) Status Seeker 06) Only A Matter Of Time 07) Beatles Medley (Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End) I think this DVD originally popped up on Dime A Dozen a couple years ago, and has spread like wildfire ever since. The Bonn clip was done for the VIVA station in Germany, and Puppies On Acid/Just Let Me Breathe from this special made it to the 5 Years In A LIVEtime DVD. The SIR Studios clip was a showcase for MCA Records. Dream Theater was signed at the time to Mechanic Records, which was MCA's heavy metal sub-label. This show constitutes the earliest comp...
