How to download from MEGA, and how to play .SHN files on a Mac

Here are some tips and pointers for using MEGA if you're confused. An easy way to download something is to right click or control click it, then select either Standard Download, or Download as ZIP. This works on both folders, and individual files (but I don't see any logical reason why someone would want to download an individual file as a .zip). There is also typically a spot in the top right corner which says "Download As ZIP." I believe Macs have difficulty downloading .zip files which are over 4 GB or thereabouts, so for DVD items, Mac users will have to use the "Standard Download" option instead. Note that you can download multiple items in a folder simultaneously by clicking the first item, holding down the shift key, clicking the last item, right or control clicking any selected item, then clicking "Standard Download."

There are various apps and download helpers which plug into MEGA, but I have no experience using any of these besides the Firefox Add-On, which is highly recommended if you have Firefox, as it will help show you the progress with larger items especially. I have also heard that MEGA does not work in Germany. Tough shit, Germans, because all other cloud and file hosting services which I've tried suck. They either have very low upload limits, are slow as hell, delete files capriciously, or have some combination of those problems.

As for playing .SHN (Shorten) files on a Mac, the best program for that is called xACT, which will quickly convert .SHN files into .WAV or .AIFF. If you run into an error message that says something like "this program is from an unknown developer and cannot be opened," try dragging the xACT application into the dock and opening it from there, or control clicking the application, and clicking "Open" from there.
