Dream Theater Live At The Palace Theater, Los Angeles 1994 [FLAC]

This was DT’s last show in 1994, and therefore, the last show before LaBrie’s big accident in Cuba. Unfortunately, the quality is atrocious. There are three distinct problems: extreme levels of tape hiss, speed being incorrect, and the volume also being too quiet. Generally speaking, the quieter the analog recording, the more tape hiss there is, because the more incompletely the iron oxide particles bind to the tape (but of course, recording something too loud will generate distortion). I’m hoping that some audio wizards out there will download this and try to fix the problems. After much careful pruning away of the tape hiss, I was able to get a listenable version of the Awake Jam from this show up on YouTube. Unfortunately, I can't find the master audio file I used for the video, otherwise I would have given that away too.

There is also an FM broadcast of several songs from this show which appeared on the Antiquities CD from Prism Records (the alias of Portnoy’s friend Mike Bahr). I’ve decided that Stream Of Consciousness is probably going to be the only Prism CD I share. The reason is that I actually traded some Prism CDs, including Antiquities, with a few people, and I don’t want them to feel like they got cheated.

Dream Theater - The Change Of A Change Of Seasons

This is one of the rarest DT bootlegs I have, as it was limited to just 50 physical copies. On it, you get: 1. The Chris Cintron audition of A Change Of Seasons. The back cover art says “A Change Of Seasons ’89” which is partially true. The instrumental parts were laid down in 1989, but Cintron would have performed vocals in 1990. 2. The 1993 Limelight performance of A Change Of Seasons. One of only two times ACOS got played live with “the two Kevins” Moore & LaBrie (other was Bonn, Germany 1993). 3. The “Mercy Fuck” performance of A Change Of Seasons from Old Bridge, NJ June 1995. This one sounds nice in contrast to the very noisy version of this show in circulation. 4. The sample from Dead Poet’s Society about Carpe Diem meaning “seize the day.” 5. “A Change Of Simpsons.” This is a Scenes era performance of this song which has a piece of The Simpson’s Theme included.
