Dream Theater Live At Musiktheater, Kassel, Germany 1995 [128 kbps MP3s]


 

Here's one of those elusive recordings from the Second European Leg of the Waking Up The World Tour. This show is known to predominantly circulate in MP3 format, but the quality is still good relative to some other DT items from around this same time, and the speed on this version is also correct. I have another version of this show which is too slow. Part of a melody played in Sherinian's keyboard solo, albeit after heavy modification, became part of Raise The Knife.

This was released on the Japanese Bondage Music label in 2002, and features three superb soundboard recordings which I consider to be essential for any DT bootleg collector. The first one is from IMP AKA Imperial Hall in Osaka 1992/11/19. Dream Theater - The Change Of A Change Of Seasons

This is one of the rarest DT bootlegs I have, as it was limited to just 50 physical copies. On it, you get: 1. The Chris Cintron audition of A Change Of Seasons. The back cover art says “A Change Of Seasons ’89” which is partially true. The instrumental parts were laid down in 1989, but Cintron would have performed vocals in 1990. 2. The 1993 Limelight performance of A Change Of Seasons. One of only two times ACOS got played live with “the two Kevins” Moore & LaBrie (other was Bonn, Germany 1993). 3. The “Mercy Fuck” performance of A Change Of Seasons from Old Bridge, NJ June 1995. This one sounds nice in contrast to the very noisy version of this show in circulation. 4. The sample from Dead Poet’s Society about Carpe Diem meaning “seize the day.” 5. “A Change Of Simpsons.” This is a Scenes era performance of this song which has a piece of The Simpson’s Theme included.
